In a fight that kinda came out of nowhere, Kermit Cintron is going to fight Antonio Margarito in a rematch of their April 23, 2005 fight in which Margarito TKOd Cintron in the 5th round. Margarito was then the WBO Welterweight Champ and Cintron was his mandatory. However a lot has changed since then. Now Cintron is the IBF Welterweight Champion and Margarito is not a titleholder. Since joining with Emmanuel Steward Cintron appears to be a better more complete fighter while Margarito appears like he is getting older. Sure he beat Golden Johnson by 1st round KO in November but who is he. This fight is supposed to take place on April 26, 2008 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City as the co-main event to the Miguel Cotto-Alfonso Gomez fight live on HBO. Assuming Cotto wins, the winner of Cintron-Margarito will likely face Cotto in July on PPV. Man how things have changed because as you know Margarito was expected to face Zab Judah but that fell completely apart. So being almost 3 years to the date of their first fight, I expect Cintron-Margarito to be a great fight with a lot of drama and trash talking leading up to the fight. All I can say is WOW there are some great fights coming up this year.
