Last night I was watching ESPN2's Friday Night Fights like I always do. Almost every week they have a guest in the studio with Brian Kenny. Usually whoever is the guest they throw a few jabs out about who they want to fight or why a fighter is not on their level. Well last night I was thoroughly impressed with the studio guest, Cruiserweight Contender BJ Flores. Flores analyzed the fights very well when asked about them. Flores spoke with respect about every fighter. When Flores was asked about how he felt that Darnell Wilson, who Flores beat in February, was getting a title shot before him. I was thinking he has got to say something negative. Surprised and proud he did not say one negative thing. Flores simply stated that Wilson is a very good fighter who is also deserving of a title shot. He felt Wilson could win in his title shot opportunity next month. Flores went on to say that he knew the time for his title shot was coming but he just had to be a little more patient. When Flores was asked about the current state of the Cruiserweight division, he stated he understood David Haye was moving up to Heavyweight and he saw Steve Cunningham as sort of the man right now. He wished David Haye good luck in moving up to Heavyweight and felt Haye could really make a name for himself in the Heavyweight division. I have to admit the responses BJ Flores gave and the way he responded made me smile. Not too often do you hear a boxer really show respect and admiration to other fighters. They usually have something foul to say or kinda respond in jealous ways. So for BJ Flores, you earned a new fan last night in me. I like your attitude and the way you fight. I wish you great luck in your future and hope to see a World Championship Belt around your waist real soon.
