1. It is official, Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito will fight on July 26 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
2. Nate Campbell-Joel Casamayor goes to the WBO pursue bid on May 23. It is widely believe that Joel Casamayor will not fight Campbell and fight Juan Diaz on September 13.
3. Joan Guzman who just vacated his WBO Junior Lightweight title said he would be more than happy to fight Nate Campbell. The WBO has promised Guzman the #1 rank at Lightweight making him the next mandatory for Campbell. Guzman said the best would not fight him at 130 and the best won't fight Campbell at 135, so they should fight each other.
4. A Hasim Rahman-James Toney rematch may happen in July. Both fighters who are on the down of their careers are looking for a bounce back into contention. The first time the two fought in March 2006, Rahman was then WBC Heavyweight Champion and James Toney was the #1 Contender. The two fought to a disappointing draw. Since then Rahman lost the title to Oleg Maskaev and Toney has lost twice to Samuel Peter and beat a nobody then tested positive for steroids.
5. It appears that after Antonio Margarito vacates his IBF Welterweight Title, Joshua Clottey and Zab Judah will fight for the vacant title on August 2nd. The fight if it happens, will take place on HBO with the replay of the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito fight from July 26.
6. There could be a Timothy Bradley-Junior Witter rematch soon. Witter who lost last weekend to Bradley via a split decision, says he could do better. Witter is not only trying to get his WBC Welterweight Belt back but also trying to get his chance at fighting Ricky Hatton back. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
