Samuel Peter scored a 6th round TKO over Oleg Maskaev. In a heavyweight fight that was not boring like Klitschko-Ibragimov on February 23, Samuel Peter proved he is for real. Both fighters started out somewhat feeling out each other in the first round with Peter landing some good jabs. In the third round Peter rocked Maskaev and had him hurt but could not finish the job. A little excited and not throwing the proper punches, Peter let Maskaev off the hook. As the round progressed, Peter himself was rocked by Maskaev in the exciting third round. At the end of the 4th round the scores were announced as 39-37(twice for Peter) and 40-38(Peter). FYI if you did not know, the WBC allows open scoring in Mexico. I do not like it but that is the way life goes. In the 5th round started to land his jab a little bit and try to find opening to set Maskaev up for some power shots. In the sixth round Peter rocked Maskaev again and this time stayed calm to go in for the kill. Peter landed straight punches to the face and side of the face of Maskaev who stumbled into the far right neutral corner. After 3 more hard punches, the referee stopped the fight at 2:56 of the 6th round. With this win Samuel Peter was crowned the WBC Heavyweight Champion. No more interim WBC Heavyweight Champion, Samuel Peter is now the only WBC Heavyweight Champion. Now Samuel Peter says he is ready to fight anybody. He feels he is the true Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World and ready to prove. The biggest fight for Samuel Peter is a rematch with IBF/WBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko, who he fought in September 2005. However the issue is that Vitali Klitschko is supposed to fight Peter next due to his Championship Emeritus. Should be interesting to see how this all plays out in the months to come. I suppose Peter and his camp will worry about that tomorrow, but for tonight they will celebrate Samuel's great win tonight.

i watched part of this one -- dude is massive. he has the build of a movie fighter. just big. i gotta tell you...the heavyweights aren't holding my attention like they used to. i would be interested in wladimir having to fight vitaly though.
Samuel Peter is a scary guy in the ring, especially since he has learned some better boxing skills. He has improved his jab, his head and upper body movements, and his overall defense. By fighting James Toney, he learned a few tricks from the old master. As far as Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko fighting, it will never happen. They are brothers and said no matter what they will never fight one another.
