Boxing Rumors (Maybe Hidden Truths) 3/22/08

1. Don King is going to telecast the IBF Junior Middleweight Championship between Cory Spinks and Verno Phillips live on the internet on http://www.donkingtv.com/. The fight takes place live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Thursday March 27. The telecast will begin at 8pm EST. This is a huge event so please check it on the internet.

2. According to Bob Arum, if Manny Pacquiao fights a third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez then Pacquiao deserves $8-10 Million. However Arum does not think the fight should happen immediately.

3. Boxing meets MMA???? Former Pound4Pound King Roy Jones Jr. has been mentioned by current MMA Pound4Pound King Anderson Silva. Silva ,who is the UFC Middleweight Champion, has said he wanted to try his skills in boxing. Having cleared out his division for the time being, Silva has said he would love to fight Jones. At first I ignored this rumor but it is coming up more and more. Jones is looking for a fight that would draw lots of interest and money. This could be that fight. MMA people want to prove they are better than boxers and vice versa. It could be an interesting fight because Silva is similar to Tarver, a tall slim southpaw with great speed, punching power and punching ability. Tarver as you know has 2 victories over Jones. If money starts yelling don't be surprised if this fight happens.

Hi Pound. Just stopping in for some wee hour nose bleeds. Just kidding. I saw the Don King story and thought I'd ask this. If he is a horrific as they've (any one) said he is , is he considered Black Mafia?? No laugh...

Well Lady Di, Don King has been called many bad things over the years but legendary is what he is. We all know he has his past and his issues, but the man gets the big fights done. He is one of the greatest promoters of all times and he gets the job done. He does not discriminate against color, religion, country or anything; Don King gets the huge fights and the money. From his business marketing standpoints you have to respect the man. As far as his life and the rumors that come with it, I am not sure if they are all true. However when it comes to promoting I respect the man.

Understandable Pound looking at it from the point you've written out. I mean if he was really THAT bad, he would still be in the business I guess!?!? Anyhow, thank you for answering!!

Lil busy offline, get back to you in another moment and time...

In life you have to respect a person for what they are good at. I did not say like, but respect. I do not like everyone and I don't always respect everything about a person. However if someone is good at something, you have to say that person is good and respect that.
