Devon Alexander-Miguel Callist Fight Result!!!

Devon Alexander put on a boxing clinic against Miguel Callist. Callist was game but never really in the fight. I personally had the fight 120-107 for Alexander. Right from round 1, Alexander established the jab and followed up with some left hands. Alexander moved on his feet very well and avoided a lot of punches. Callist from the 6th round on was in retreat mode for the most part, rarely throwing any punches. Callist backed away and ran from Alexander most of the fight. Every once in awhile Callist would throw a punch back in return, but he really was not impressive. Alexander threw some good combinations as the fight went on and had Callist stunned in rounds 7 and each round from 9-12. In round 12 Alexander finally knocked Callist down with a hard right hand, but still could not finish him. The official judges scorecards were 120-105, 120-106, and 120-106 which indicates how much Alexander dominated this fight.

When interviewed, Devon Alexander gave himself a C- and said he would like to dominate a little more. His trainer Kevin Cunningham said they want to fight the best. He believes Devon Alexander is ready for a title shot this year.

My advice for Alexander after a fight like this, is to learn to cut off the ring a little more. If he could have cut the ring off, he could have finished this guy. The other thing is watch when you lift your feet off the ground to throw your power punches. Alexander got out of position a little bit and it could cost him in the future against better fighters. However this young man has a bright future and I look forward to him fighting again real soon. I enjoyed his dominating performance and I can't wait to say I saw this young man when he was coming up the ranks. Congratulations.
