K-9 Defeats Ouma In A Crossroads Fight

Tonight on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, Cornelius K-9 Bundrage earned a UD over former IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Kassim Ouma. The official scores of the fight were 96-93 twice and 95-94. It was a close fight that was not very interesting in my opinion. Ouma, who has been on the downside for a few fights, just did not have the energy he used to have. Ouma has always been known as a volume puncher throwing 100+ punches a round. Tonight he did not throw 100 punches in a round. The reason he would throw so many punches is because he did not have a lot of power in his punches. He put some pressure on K-9 in rounds 3 and 4 after an accidental headbutt caused a cut on K-9. The blood flowed heavily from the left side of K-9's face but his corner eventually stopped the blood. K-9, who looks like a bodybuilder trying to box, was able to land some decent right hands on Ouma. Nothing spectacular about K-9's performance, he just simply outworked Ouma for the win. For Ouma, this is his 3rd loss in a row and he has an even longer road back to the top. Even at 29, with the way he fought tonight, I don't see him getting back to the top. For K-9, it was a decent win on his record but I don't see much happening for him. He is too stiff in the ring and does not have a lot of movement. K-9 may get another decent payday fight or two, but he just does not appear to have world class skills in the boxing ring. At 34, if he does not have the skills by now, I doubt if he will ever get them.
