Nonito Donaire Wants To Fight, Stop Avoiding Him

One of my favorite fighters especially in the lower weight classes is Nonito Donaire. In my opinion he brings what we need more of in the sport which is speed, power, and respect for others and the sport. The first time I saw him fight was in July 2007 when he KOd Vic Darchinyan. It was the perfect punch. Then after the fight the way he spoke was so respectful that I became a fan on the spot. Well with his win over Darchinyan, Donaire won the IBF Flyweight title. In December he beat Luis Maldonado by TKO to defend the title. However since then, Donaire has not been able to get a fight. He has openly offered to fight the other Flyweight Champions who are Japanese in their own country of Japan. The WBC Flyweight Champion Daisuke Naito and the WBA Flyweight Champion Takefumi Sakata both live in Japan, but only want to defend their titles against fellow Japanese fighters to keep the belts in Japan. In other words they have taken World titles and are keeping them only in their country. This shows why we have issues determining real Champions in boxing. Also it shows how the sanctioning boards are doing nothing to end this mess by making fighters fight the best or stripping them of the titles. Nonito Donaire is a real World Champion who is trying to put emphasis on the word world by attempting to fight in other countries. It is just ashame that not everyone is trying to do the same. Keep your head up Nonito, you will get a good fight soon.

This fight here put Nonito Donaire on the map and may also be the reason why fighters are not trying to fight him. Whatever it is, this man deserves a good fight NOW.
